Daylong Workshop
Just a few times per year.
Spend a Sunday at Pastime Farm.
Tea & coffee service provided. Chef brunch, too.
Reserved for graduates of Reclamation Ground, workshops offer some of the most powerful teachings of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. These teachings require being in person and were therefore not included in the prerequisite course. Tea and coffee service are provided, as is brunch. There’s always the option to eat outdoors with ample time to replenish in nature. In this way, we benefit from the little extras that support integration — beauty, scent, nature, food, and movement.

Workshops are appropriate for women of all ages, colors, backgrounds, disciplines, gender identities, and expressions. Please keep in mind that a mixed-gender gathering is on the horizon (TBD). Let us know if you’d like to be kept in that loop.

The Annual Course must be completed prior to participating in a Daylong Workshop. The course establishes a foundation-level understanding of traditional ACT teachings and methods. It also provides a shared language (e.g., chessboard, self-as-context). The Workshop is an opportunity to explore these concepts together while in person. It’s taught extemporaneously – in response to what is arising within the group. It aims to bring concepts into experience (and, for that reason, includes the experiential exercise that could not be taught online).
-
This event is suitable to any level of mastery –from the beginner to the seasoned ACT therapist. Everyone is welcome. Advanced practitioners are encouraged to ask any questions that may arise — it can only bring greater depth and vitality to our conversation.
Participation
Workshops aim at a subjective understanding of the concepts introduced in the prerequisite course. Each workshop has a distinct topic (e.g., choosing willingness) along with corresponding teachings (e.g., take your mind for a walk, passengers on the bus). Whereas the day’s topic is pre-determined, the corresponding teachings are delivered extemporaneously. You will experience teachings, experiential exercises, open discussion, brief guided meditation, and/or spontaneous one-on-one coaching.

Plan to arrive at/after 9:45 a.m. (and no later than 9:55). Our morning segment starts at 10:00 a.m. and completes at 12:30 p.m. when brunch is served. The 90-minute lunch break allows ample time for relaxing, reading, meditating, journaling, and/or hiking. Our afternoon segment begins at 2:00 p.m.. Departures take place at/after 4:00 p.m. (and no later than 4:15).
-
Vegetarian brunch is provided by a professional chef. Options will be available for those with pre-reported food allergies and/or sensitivities. Tea and coffee are available throughout the day.
-
Workshops take place at Pastime Farm in the San Francisco Bay Area. The address will be provided upon confirmation of your registration. Until then, aim your travel plans toward Sunol, California.
-
Attending an in-person event requires walking approximately 50 yards on a flagstone path and climbing five steep steps to the front porch. Exploring the property requires walking over sloped terrain covered by bark mulch. It is necessary to walk mindfully because the chickens forage throughout the back yard (creating holes). Please reach out with any questions.
Workshop Agreements
Agreements create the holding space for this work. Before registering, review each of the policies below.
-
Each member of this group is entitled to confidentiality. This is a shared responsibility. By registering, you agree to protect the identities of everyone who attends workshop. Do not disclose any information about participants to outsiders. This includes their identities as well as anything they might have shared at any time within the course.

If you arrive at a Daylong Workshop and discover a conflict of interest with another participant, then please take care of yourself in whatever way feels appropriate. If you can remain present with the teachings, then you are welcome to stay. Otherwise, please exit quietly and send Kelly a message noting your departure.

Kelly is severely allergic to synthetic fragrance and, if exposed, will immediately experience anaphylaxis. Before registering for this event, determine the amount of effort required for you to arrive fragrance-free by checking the ingredients in your hair, body, and laundry products. (If the word “fragrance” or “parfum” is listed in their ingredients, then it will be a problem.) By registering for this event, you are agreeing to forego fragrance entirely and not bring residue on your person or belongings. If you arrive with fragrance, then you will be asked to leave without receiving a refund.)
-
Due to high fire hazards, there is no smoking, incense, candles, or open flame of any sort to be used on the property — except in the designated area. If you wish to access the area, then ask Kelly.

Gunilla Norris on Willingness:
“In almost all traditions of spiritual development, there is the understanding that our wills need to be trained. Without willingness, we cannot enter into stability on behalf of our inner lives. Willingness is not willpower, the ‘pull up your bootstraps’ kind. Willingness is more like surrender to one’s deep longing. It orients us according to the heart’s desire instead of the ego’s demands.”
