The ACT Group
– 4 Sundays in March 2018
“It is our very fear of the future that distorts the now that could lead to a different future if we dared to be whole in the present.” ~ Marion Woodman
This workshop series is a reformulation of the original 12-session weekly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Group. Rather than twelve weekly sessions, I’ve reformulated it to (1) The ACT Group which provides a solid foundation of ACT over the course of four daylong gatherings; (2) an optional daylong workshop which reveals the magic of deliteralizing language; and (3) an optional daylong workshop which explores values and goals. All of these events have a single-focused aim: To learn what stands in the way of living your most magnificent life and to practice methods for dismantling those obstacles.
The ACT Group integrates teachings, written exercises, guided inquiry, and discussion. It includes 1 hour of homework per week. My aim is to provide a nurturing environment in which to develop a felt sense of community and gain a thorough understanding of ACT. The series is held in a private residence, with vegetarian lunch prepared by my favorite local caterer.
Topics to be covered in this 4-part Group (March 4, 11, 18, 25):
- Waking Up (Control is the Problem)
- Acceptance = Freedom
- Dismantling Self-Concept
- Willingness to Live Fully
Topics covered in the optional specialty workshops:
Psychologists, MFTs, and LCSWs earn 20 APA-approved CE units. ($35 administration fee. See Policies below for details.)
There is a 50% enrollment fee due upon registration. The balance is due Feb 18. As the group is limited in size, there are no refunds for cancellation.
If you cannot attend all four sessions, i.e. March 4, 11, 18, 25, then audio recordings will be available for you to review prior to the next group session. (The material builds upon itself.)
The bigger vision? An Advanced ACT Circle specifically providing deeper teachings and attuned scaffolding necessary to birth something of significance in your life. Maybe it’s professional. Maybe it’s personal. Maybe it’s small. Maybe it’s big. (I vote for big.) You can read about The Advanced ACT Circle here.
