“The timing, the word choice, the investment of thought while maintaining the focus on the present … Kelly is an excellent guide.”
Ratna Ling is, without a doubt, my favorite Northern California retreat center. After hoarding it for two years as my go-to destination for solitary meditation retreat, I recently began sharing it with loved ones. Based on their delight, I’ve decided to create a 4-day weekend retreat specifically for this setting. (Because, frankly, three days aren’t enough.)
What’s so special about this place? Think: summer camp – except better. Delicious, nutritious, homegrown vegetarian meals. Cabins that are spacious, brand-spanking new, and offer two private bedrooms. Vinyasa yoga classes provided by Meagan (while the rest of us sleep in). Peaceful surroundings with frequent visits by deer, rabbits, and a malingering pet cat (hilarious and true). Dazzling pinkish-purple sunsets by daytime; Crystal clear starlit skies by night. It’s the perfect setting for settling into oneself more deeply. And for enjoying the company of your fellow retreatants.
Unlike most retreat centers, the Ratna Ling “staff” aren’t staff. They’re meditation practitioners who live on site and volunteer their time toward hospitality. As a result, it feels like staying with friends – relaxed, accommodating, comfortable. Visit their website.
